Barbara is a proud Weil wan/Dunghutti Woman born and raised on Gadigal and Bidjigal Country.

The Burdekin Association has employed Barbara to establish YERIN

which is a cultural holding place for Indigenous Young People in Out of Home Care until they can connect with an ACCO or Kin.

Barbara sits on the Walama List of the District Court of New South Wales as a Respected Older Person; she also attends Youth Koori Court as an Older Respected Person. As an Indigenous Trauma and Recovery Practitioner, Barbara conducts research into the criminalization of childhood trauma that leads to further offending.

Currently Barbara has achieved a Bachelor of Indigenous Knowledges majoring in Aboriginal Health (SCU), a Graduate Certificate in Indigenous Trauma and Recovery (UOW), and a Diploma in Counselling (ACAP).
